SAKURA finally bloom in Hokkaido?

Many friends ask me, when does sakura(cherry blossom) in Hokkaido bloom?

To be honest, I am not sure about it because it depends on the year.

Also, I am about to forget Hokkaido’s sakura because I have not seen sakura Hokkaido since 2014. (However, I am a citizen of Hokkaido hehe)

So, I searched sakura in Hokkaido again. I would like to share my information easily.

In Hokkaido, you can see mainly three kinds of sakura.

A hybrid cherry of between Prunus speciosa (Oshima zakura) as father plant and Prunus pendula f. ascendens (Edo higan) as mother. It occurs as a natural or artificial hybrid in Japan and is now one of the most popular and widely planted cultivated flowering cherries (sakura) in temperate climates worldwide. It is a clone from a single tree and propagated by grafting to all over the world. With its fragrant, light pink flowers, manageable size, and elegant shape, the Yoshino cherry is often used as an ornamental tree. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prunus_×_yedoensis)

Ezoyama zakura is also called yama zakura. It is famous in Hokkaido. It is stronger than other kinds of species in terms of cold environment, so the colour of flower is darker than other areas’ ones. The flower and leaves bloom at the same time as a feature.
